A week too late.

oh, everybody. i have been a bad blogger lately. for some strange reason i thought, "well, meg. you're going to night school and work a full time job and serve at church and are in the middle of moving and celebrating your twenty-first, so why don't you start a membership with NaNoWriMo?"

ah, yes. i'm so intelligent sometimes.

long story short? the reason i'm not blogging is because i'm stuck writing 2,000 words a day to beat out 50,000 words of a novel by the end of november. as much as i love each and every one of you {and your comments!}, it's going to be a bit slow here in this end of the woods.

i'm writing a story.

happy {post} election day!

Well. Happy post-election day, everybody! This means there will no longer be election coverage all over the news, big signs in everyone's lawn or picketers on your street corners. That, in itself, is a little exciting. For some, today is joyous, and for others, it is a bit bleak.

Yesterday, I did my duty as an American, as well as what I feel is my duty as a Christian, and cast my vote in a tiny LA polling place. With the slew of heated words and the spiteful nature, it made me nervous to share my views while out and about, and especially on social media. I was wondering last night, as I watched the results trickle in, if I should write a blog post on my ideals and concern for this great nation. I respect everyone's views out there, but I was a bit nervous that I would lose followers or become harassed with mean/uncouth comments about my ignorance or stupidity.

But. I am the child of an amazing King, and I feel that in my blog I want to honor him. Which, in fact, is why I'm writing this post today. You may have seen the following post on Facebook, and I think it represents my views perfectly:

How will I vote?

1. I will vote for the most pro-life candidate, because God hates the shedding of innocent blood (Prov.6:17).

2. I will vote for the most pro-Israel candidate, because God blesses those who bless Israel & curses those who don't (Gen.12:3).

3. I will vote for the most pro-marriage candidate, because God is for marriage as defined in Genesis 2:24.

4. I will vote for the candidate who most closely believes government's purpose is to reward the good & punish the evil (Romans 13).

5. I will vote for the most pro-debt reduction candidate, because the borrower is servant to the lender (Prov.22:7).

6. I will vote for the most pro-work candidate because God says if a man does not work, let him not eat (2 Thess. 3:10). With the exception of those who can't work, whom I desire to take care of in times of need; the disabled, the widow, and the orphan (James 1:27, Isaiah 1:1.)

Finally, I will vote based as close as I can on God's Word (2 Tim.3:16). Knowing that whoever gets elected, God is the one who puts all men in authority (Dan.2:21).

I will vote.

** I am thankful for God's sovereign plan, as well as the man who He has planned to be sworn in as president, once again, this January. President Obama has my prayers and my appreciation for the drive to serve our country. I hope he leads in a way that is God honoring, and that represents true American ideals. As always, may God bless America.

a sweet 'lil award.

as you all probably know (due to my lack of posting), i've been offline for a couple of days. i was moving/getting over a cold/focusing on work, and i missed a few postings :(

then, i get online today and find the sweetest award from my dear fellow blogger Kayla at My Kind of Yellow. if you're looking for an absolutely darling blog full of sweet anecdotes and beautiful pictures? you don't have to look any longer. and she's just the kindest lady! all her comments are so thoughtful and cute, and it's so obvious so that loves the Lord. what more could you want in a blog?

just a little background on the 'liebster' award. it's awarded to bloggers who have under 200 followers that make their home in the blogosphere. and here, my friends, are the rules:

1. Post ELEVEN random facts about yourself
2. Answers the ELEVEN questions from your nominator
3. Pass the award onto ELEVEN other blogs and ask them ELEVEN different questions
4. Don't nominate that sweet 'lil blogger that nominated YOU

Okay. Well. Eleven random facts? Here we go...

1. i LOVE chocolate chip ice cream. it's my absolute favorite.
2. once, i was grounded from milk. yep, good ol' 2% because i was...drinking too much of it.
3. my favorite book is a tie between, "wuthering heights" and "the bell jar."
4. country music = best friend.
5. i love to play make believe. still. my best friend just laughs at me.
6. i like to listen to other people in coffee shops/restaurants. if they say anything slightly interesting, i usually write it down and stick it somewhere in a story ;)

8. i dream about being listed in the "new york times" and published in, "the new yorker"
9. i've studied old hollywood extensively, and it makes me love living in LA
10. i watch "grey's anatomy" religiously and cried when "desperate housewives" ended. (i know, i know. but it's true)
11. my mama and i talk pretty much every day. she's a neat lady.

now. as if you haven't had ENOUGH of me, here are some questions from asked by the lovely Kayla:

1. If you could only have one fruit the rest of your life, what would it be? Strawberries. Always and forever.
2. Sweet or salty? Sweet. Cupcakes fix everything.
3. Are you married? If yes, how did you meet your man? Um, nope. Not yet. But you can check out this post and see why ;)
4. Describe yourself in 4 words. Let’s have an adventure.
5. Who do you strive to be like? Probably Joyce Carol Oates. And my mom. If we stuck those two people together, I would want the outcome to = me.
6. What is your passion in life? Writing stories.
7. What is one song you could hear at any point in your life and never get sick of? “Standing Outside the Fire” by Garth Brooks. It reminds me of being a little girl and I love the message. You have to take chances to make your life worth living, no matter what other people think J
8. Hot date night out, or comfy movie night in? It depends on whether or not I’ve exercised in the past week, and if I have new pair of heels…
9. What is one thing you never leave the house without? My new super cool iPhone 5. And my idea book!
10. Are you on twitter? If yes, what name can I follow you under? Well yes I am. My twitter name is @meg1521, {here's the link!} and i'm a bit of a newbie. it confuses me.
11. Did you do any extracurricular activities in high school? I was in choir and CSF. I definitely would classify my high school self as a "nerd" so I wasa bit buried in the books and my job at the local Starbucks.

Yay!! Thanks so much, Kayla! I am so honored, and I can't wait to put this little button in my sidebar :)

My nominees? Well, I only picked four because I'm still a baby blogger. I chose these sweet ladies because they have become darling fixtures on my blog, and I love all the inspiration that I get from theirs. So, in no particular order:
1. Darling Rachael at the Sanderson Smith Story...she was one of my first followers, and I love popping over her her place for stunning family photographs and stories that make me smile.
2. Natalie, who is a darling and inspirational fashion blogger from, The Best Things in Life are Free, the Second Best are Very Expensive
3. Rachael from RachECakes, who is a lovely southern belle transplant making fashion waves in Boston.
4. Lizz, from Looking to Find, who I can always count on for beautiful photos and inspirational posts.
